The accommodation that we provide has
been chosen carefully for its unique character, spectacular location
or high service levels, and in many cases all three.
You have
the opportunity to stay in some truly memorable locations individually
selected to enhance your overall experience, rather than just
provide a base for your wildlife activities.
Our ever-expanding portfolio ranges from rustic wilderness lodges to luxurious city hotels and mountain cottages with spectacular views. We pride ourselves on being able to find the best fit for your tastes and budget.
We endeavour to select properties with the best amenities and services available in the area. These are all properties that afford you an optimum balance between facilities and location. Uganda in particular has a great number of genuine eco-lodges that appeal to clients wanting to limit the impact of their stay. Although initially some travelers may be worried about 'compost' toilets and 'bucket' showers, the reality is a lot nicer than you might imagine. The toilets are well maintained with proper western seats and the showers with their wooden or pebble floors are charming, even though far from being a power shower! But isn't it great to know that just one bucket of water has been warmed for one person, thus saving a huge amount of energy and unnecessary waste?
At several of the National Parks there
is a wider choice of accommodation for clients, depending on their
particular likes and
dislikes.
There are good quality hotels available rather than wildlife lodges,
that cater for clients looking for the greater choice of facilities
found at this type of property. As a contrast there are small
scale wildlife lodges/tented camps that will suit people looking
to extend their 'wilderness experience' by staying in accommodation
that blends into their surroundings.
Since a lot of this accommodation is fairly remote you will find that most of your meals are included in our tours. The food is generally western in its traditional makeup; with potatoes, vegetables and chicken or beef featuring heavily on the menu. For the evening meal there are usually 3 courses and sometimes as many as 5 at the higher-end lodges. If you are happy to try some of the local Ugandan or Rwandan specialties such as Matoke and Mandazi, it is a good idea to let the lodge management know on arrival, and they will be delighted to attend to your wishes wherever possible.
